Joined by Olympic swimmers Alice Mills and Brenton Rickard also local Brumbies rugby stars Tyron Smith, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Josh Homes, the ACT junior athletes were introduced to the public and celebrated in the leadup to the games. The Junior National Games has received great support from local businesses and sporting bodies. This ongoing support helps to provide an opportunity for our youth to get involved and to develop their skills in a fun and safe sporting environment. The 2008 Junior National Games comprised of 8 sports and a demonstration sport and are for children under the age of 16. It is a great honour for Canberra to be selected as the host city for the Games with athletes traveling from each State and Territory in Australia as well as from New Zealand and some other Pacific and South East Asian Countries.
